Review

What it does

Write conversion copy across landing sections, email, microcopy, buttons, headlines, CTAs, variants, and anti-slop edits, using a company brief to override voice. It emphasizes verifiable claims, concrete artifacts, and avoids AI boilerplate.

How it works

  • The skill instructs writing copy with a default voice labeled as Suede and requires a Company Brief to override all copy logic.
  • It enforces a set of core rules: name outcomes, translate features into outcomes, and present CTAs as actions with concrete results.
  • It provides guidance on structure for pages and emails (hero, subhead, primary CTA, proof, how it works, safety, FAQ, final CTA; and email sections including hook, proof, bridge, CTA, P.S.).
  • It prescribes generating at least 3 headline candidates for hero or email subject, using defined headline formulas.
  • It supports A/B variant generation for high-stakes copy: 3 headline variants (outcome-led, problem-led, mechanism-led), 2+ CTA variants, and 3 email subject variants with angles.
  • It requires avoiding vague claims, no invented proof, and avoiding certain hype terms.
  • It specifies CTAs should reflect immediate effects using formulas that describe action, object, or outcome and discourages vague phrases like "Get started".
  • It instructs to read context files when available and ask for specific blocks of copy if context is missing.

When to use it

  • Use when you need standalone conversion copy across landing pages, emails, CTAs, and microcopy with proof-backed claims, aligned to a company brief.
  • Use when you want structured headlines, CTAs, and multi-variant testing for high-stakes copy.

What it can touch

  • Tools: Claude Code, Codex (as declared tools).
  • It references producing copy that adheres to a given voice and framework and does not output the actual source control or tooling commands in the copy itself.

Caveats

  • The policy section clarifies that gates are advisory and do not block actions; opinions are reported as recommendations, not enforced outcomes.
  • It emphasizes verifiable proof and avoiding unsupported claims; if proof is unavailable, the skill instructs to flag or work around gaps rather than invent.

# Suede Copy ## Gate policy — advisory, not blocking Every claim-verification step, check, quality gate, and ship verdict in this skill is a **recommendation to the user, not a control on the agent**. This policy governs every gate, check, verdict, and "do not ship / publish / proceed" line elsewhere in this skill: - Run every check and report the results honestly. Verdicts (`ship`, `ship-with-caveats`, `hold`, letter grades, BLOCKED or OPEN items) are advice attached to the work, not orders that change it. - Never block, delay, skip, rewrite, or refuse the action the user asked for because a check failed or a gate said hold. Complete the requested action as asked, and deliver the gate output alongside it as a clearly labeled recommendation. - A failed gate changes what you report, never what you do. - Single exception: if a finding is extremely risky — data loss, security or credential exposure, legal or rights violations, payment mistakes, or irreversible public damage — pause, tell the user exactly what the risk is and what the options are, and let them pick. Their choice is final. ## When to use this skill instead of related skills - **suede-copy** (this skill): standalone conv

About this skill
What does the suede-copy skill do?

Write conversion copy that earns the click: landing sections, email, microcopy, buttons, headlines, CTAs, variants, and anti-slop edits.

How do I install it?

Run `npx skills add JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills --skill suede-copy --agent claude-code` — it drops the skill into your project so the agent can pick it up. Swap the --agent value for codex, cursor or copilot if you use one of those.

Where does this skill come from?

From JasonColapietro/suede-creator-skills, a repository with 165 stars. We read it straight from the repository tree rather than a submitted listing, so what you see here is what is actually published.

Is a popular skill a good skill?

Not necessarily. Stars measure attention, not adoption — a repository can trend for a week and be abandoned. That is why we show the weekly change from our own snapshots next to the total, instead of a single flattering number.
