# Literature Positioning (etp-literature-positioning) ## When to trigger - The intro cites "the entrepreneurship literature" instead of a specific debate - A reviewer says the contribution is "incremental" or "already known" - You cannot say in one sentence what *changes* in the field if your paper is right - The paper could be claimed by JBV, SEJ, or AMJ and you have not defended ETP as its home - You are unsure which prior ETP/entrepreneurship work you must engage to be taken seriously ## Position inside a named entrepreneurship conversation ETP reviewers are entrepreneurship specialists who know the canon. Generic gap-spotting ("little research has examined X") reads as a desk-reject signal. Instead, **name the conversation and your move within it**: are you extending discovery-vs-creation, contrasting effectuation with causation, advancing socioemotional-wealth theory in family firms, reconciling competing accounts of entrepreneurial persistence? State whose claims you build on, whose you qualify, and whose you overturn.
