What it does
Produces commercially usable ecommerce product imagery, not just attractive pictures, ensuring images convey true product details and comply with truth constraints, rights, and approvals.
How it works
- For every image set, it enforces three categories: documented product fact, creative direction, and regulated/platform-sensitive claims. It labels its own assertions as documented fact, production heuristic, volatile platform fact, or legal/compliance risk.
- It defines a minimum viable brief including product identity, channel, deliverables, source material, truth constraints, use of generation/editing, and approval path. It allows proceeding only with clearly marked concept/placeholders if truth cannot be verified.
- It maintains SKU continuity as the anchor across all images, and requires a product truth table (SKU/variant, color/material, scale/dimensions, packaging, included items, claims, compliance marks).
- It prescribes reference and capture strategies with neutral packshots, hero references, and material/texture details; for AI-assisted workflows, it restricts references to identity, material, scene, or layout as appropriate.
- It provides detailed shot-type guidance (Marketplace primary image, secondary images, lifestyle, hero/ad, infographics, variant/bundle packaging, virtual try-on) and platform-specific caveats, including verified platform notes as of certain dates.
- It outlines AI-generated and AI-edited image boundaries, including when to generate versus composite, and requires an audit trail of model/tool, prompts, references, seeds/settings, edits, and approvals.
- It includes a claims/compliance/escalation framework, with escalation for health, environmental, regulatory, or unfair claims, and notes FTC references for substantiation requirements.
- It mandates provenance tracking for final imagery: supplier, licensing, releases, AI tool and settings, post-production edits, and approvals.
When to use it
Use when you need to plan, generate, edit, review, localize, package, or QA truthful commercial product imagery, while managing SKU continuity, marketplace requirements, claims, rights, releases, accessibility, and approvals.
What it can touch
- Tools: claude-code, codex, copilot, cursor. (Declared tools are listed to be used during tasks.)
Caveats
- Must not render unsupported or unverified claims; escalate to client/ counsel for regulatory or legal concerns.
- Ensure volatile platform facts are re-checked before submission to marketplaces or ads.
- Do not invent logos, claims, or regulatory marks without substantiation and approval.
- Maintain provenance and an auditable trail of all generation/edit steps and approvals.
# Ecommerce Product Imagery Use this skill to produce commercially usable product imagery, not just attractive pictures. The governing rule is: the image must help a buyer understand the actual purchasable product without inventing features, quantities, sizes, colors, materials, packaging, certifications, results, endorsements, or included accessories. ## Operating principles Separate three catego

How do I install it?
Run `npx skills add calesthio/generative-media-skills --skill ecommerce-product-imagery --agent claude-code` — it drops the skill into your project so the agent can pick it up. Swap the --agent value for codex, cursor or copilot if you use one of those.
Where does this skill come from?
From calesthio/generative-media-skills, a repository with 112 stars. We read it straight from the repository tree rather than a submitted listing, so what you see here is what is actually published.
Is a popular skill a good skill?
Not necessarily. Stars measure attention, not adoption — a repository can trend for a week and be abandoned. That is why we show the weekly change from our own snapshots next to the total, instead of a single flattering number.
