Mater. with impact framing" and you must make that case - An editor previously desk-rejected similar work as "not a sufficient advance" - You need to distinguish this work from your own or others' recent related papers - You are resubmitting after transfer from, or rejection by, another journal ## The editor's triage question Advanced Materials editors desk-triage on **advance and impact before sending anything to review**. Lead with the finding, not the background. 3. **Why it is an advance, not an increment** — name the design rule or the trade-off it br

What does the advmat-cover-letter skill do?

Use when drafting the cover letter for an Advanced Materials submission, whose core job is to convince the editor that the work is a genuine materials advance of broad impact worthy of the journal. Argues the impact case; does not fix the science or format the manuscript.

How do I install it?

Run `npx skills add brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills --skill advmat-cover-letter --agent claude-code` — it drops the skill into your project so the agent can pick it up. Swap the --agent value for codex, cursor or copilot if you use one of those.

Where does this skill come from?

From brycewang-stanford/Awesome-Journal-Skills, a repository with 909 stars. We read it straight from the repository tree rather than a submitted listing, so what you see here is what is actually published.

Is a popular skill a good skill?

Not necessarily. Stars measure attention, not adoption — a repository can trend for a week and be abandoned. That is why we show the weekly change from our own snapshots next to the total, instead of a single flattering number.
